TORONTO (CelebrityAccess) — Norman Jewison, the Oscar-winning Canadian director whose films include classics such as “In the Heat of the Night” and “Fiddler on the Roof,” has died. He was 97. A spokesman for Jewison’s family said that he died at his home on Saturday but declined to provide additional details, citing the family’s request for privacy. A Toronto native, Jewison began his career as a scriptwriter in London before becoming an assistant director at Canada’s CBC Television when it went live in 1952.
