What: Horological Machine No 6 Final Edition

How much: HK$1.8 Million

Why: Maximilian Büsser & Friends (MB&F) announced its last model in the Horological Machine No 6 collection – the HM6 Final Edition.

The Swiss watch brand launched the HM6 Space Pirate in 2014 when it revealed it would manufacture only 100 movements in the collection. The first 50 pieces were launched in titanium, followed by 18 pieces in rose gold, 20 “Sapphire Vision” edition pieces, and four “Alien Nation” Pièces Uniques.

The inspiration for the HM6 came from Capitaine Flam, a 1970s and 1980s Japanese anime TV series featuring the captain and his bulbous spaceship. It looks more like a spacecraft than a watch. The HM6 wristwatch line is celebrated for its 475-component movement developed from scratch, with revolving hour and minute spheres driven by conical gears.

Apart from the platinum winding rotor regulated by twin aluminium turbines, the sapphire crystal dome comes with a retractable “hyperspace shield”. When open, the dome offers a panoramic view of the flying tourbillon.

The hour and minute spheres are in a captivating blue. The stainless steel watch features polished grooves running along the biomorphic case, accentuating the curves of the timepiece. Eight pieces of the model will be available.
