Jessica Chastain has an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and so many other accolades—but she also has dry skin, and a preference for natural products. “Skincare is very important to me, because I actually, for the most part, don’t wear foundation,” the actor says in Bazaar’s latest episode of Go to Bed With Me. “I’m vegan, and I like cruelty-free products, which is why I also like [True Botanicals].”

The star is the newest face of the brand, a skincare line devoted to clean, effective products that is also beloved of Olivia Wilde, Laura Dern, and Brooke Shields. Chastain uses several True Botanicals products as part of her nightly skin routine, including the latest launch, Phyto-Retinol Sleep Serum. This innovative new formula uses an ingredient called Peptilium, an extract derived from upcycled cranberry pulp. In independent clinical studies, it was shown to mirror the wrinkle reduction and texture benefits of traditional retinol in just 21 days, while also strengthening skin barrier function but causing no side effects like irritation or dryness. “What’s so nice about [the Sleep Serum], is that it works two times faster than synthetic retinol, and it’s natural, which is so important to me,” Chastain says.

Before she applies the serum, she kicks off the night by cleansing. “I like to use a cleansing balm, because I have very dry skin,” she says, reaching for True Botanicals’ Ginger Turmeric Cleansing Balm. She is also a big fan of oils, calling the brand’s Renew Pure Radiance Oil “a godsend.” Other favorites in her routine include True Botanicals Resurrection Radiance Eye Cream and Chebula Extreme Cream. “[The Chebula Extreme Cream] might be my favorite, because it smells like cherries,” she says. “Chebula is a fruit that is full of antioxidants, and it’s so nice. This I also use in the morning and in the evening.”

The end-of-day routine doesn’t stop at Chastain’s neck. To keep her signature red hair healthy, she applies Sisley’s Hair Rituel hair oil to her ends every night. Her body lotion of choice is the cult-favorite Kai moisturizer. On her feet, she uses Asutra Dream the Night Away, a cream that contains melatonin and magnesium, to help her sleep.
